Border security is Iran’s top priority: Salehi
Tehran, Aug.27(MNA)-- In a meeting with Vice President of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Nechirvan Barzani , Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said security in border areas is Iran’s top priority.
He added that cooperation between Iran and Iraq is vital for the improvement of security along common borders.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed several issues including relationship between the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic.
The top Iranian diplomat also invited President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government Masoud Barzani to pay a visit to Tehran.
Barzani also conveyed the hearty greetings of President Jalal Talibani and Masoud Barzani to the Iranian officials and called Iran a true friend of Iraq.
Barzani called for mutual cooperation between the two countries to achieve sustainable security in the region, saying security in Iran and the Iraqi Kurdistan are closely connected.
