Iranian filmmaker completes doc on Hezbollah music band
TEHRAN, Aug. 27(MNA) -- An Iranian filmmaker has recently completed the production of a documentary on Firqat al-Isra, a music band affiliated to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“This documentary, entitled ‘The Song of Resistance’, is about Firqat al-Isra and it is first time a film focuses public attention on this band,” director Vahid Amirkhani told on Friday.
“Firqat al-Isra began its activities shortly after the establishment of Hezbollah in Lebanon, and deems music as a weapon for resistance,” Amirkhani said.
The documentary studies the private lives of the members, their professions and their careers in music.
“Every member of the band has his or her job as a teacher, a gas station employee or as a staff member of a travel agency,” he explained.
He said that the band’s songs have been welcomed even by followers of other religions.
According to Amirkhani, Firqat al-Isra has performed many concerts in Kuwait, Turkey, Iran, and Egypt, as well as in many other African countries.
The documentary also comprises a concert the band performed on the sidelines of a meeting, during which by Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech.
It is scheduled to be aired by Channel 4 of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting in the near future.
