‘Close consultations among Islamic countries on Palestine is a necessity’

TEHRAN, Aug.29(MNA) – Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said in the current situation holding close dialogue and consultations with the aim of defending the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people is a necessity.

Larijani made the remarks during separate telephone conversations with Iraqi, Kuwaiti, and Omani parliament speakers late on Saturday.

He pointed to the regional developments and said the issue of Palestine should not be allowed to fade into oblivion under the influence of current developments in the region.

Larijani also invited his Iraqi, Kuwaiti, and Omani counterparts to participate in the 5th international conference in support of Palestinian Intifada which is scheduled to be held in Tehran in early October.

The speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Usama Abdu'l Aziz al-Nujayfi, Kuwaiti National Assembly Speaker Jassem al-Kharafi, and the chairman of Omani Majlis A'Shura Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Isa'ee regarded the issue of Palestine as the most important concern of the Islamic World and emphasized the importance of holding consultations on the matter.

They also appreciated Larijani’s invitation to the upcoming conference in Tehran and expressed hope that they would attend.
