‘Israel meddling in Syria to compensate for fall of allies’

TEHRAN, Aug. 29(MNA) – Iran’s ambassador to Syria said that Israel is meddling in Syria in an attempt to make up for the collapse of its close allies in the region.

“Covert and overt intervention of Israel and its supporters in Syria’s recent developments is aimed at compensating for the damage inflicted on this regime after the downfall of (former Egyptian and Tunisian presidents) Mubarak and Ben Ali,” Ambassador Ahmad Mousavi told on Sunday.

He also said the unprecedented uprisings of Muslim nations, especially in North Africa, herald the decline of the Zionist regime and the liberation of the occupied holy Qods.

“The balance of power has changed in favor of Palestine and the resistance axis,” he said. “The foundations of the ignominious Camp David Agreement have become shaky and the Zionist regime is worried about the security of its border with Egypt.”

The cleric diplomat added, “Israel is no longer an invincible power.”
