Resistance not dependent on one country: Iranian MP

TEHRAN, Aug.29(MNA)--commenting on Syria, MP Kazem Jalali said that the United States and other Western countries think that resistance is a movement, which is dependent on one or two countries and can be contained through putting pressure on the Syrian government.

“The resistance movement is rooted in the great awakening of the Islamic ummah,” Jalali, who is the rapporteur of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said on Sunday.

He also criticized U.S. President Barack Obama for calling on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down and said that the adoption of such stances by the Americans is nothing more than making “false democratic gestures.”
