Iran finishes 10th in World Youth Volleyball Championship

TEHRAN,Aug.29(MNA)--Iran seized the 10th place of the 2011 FIVB Boys' Youth World Championship on Sunday night.

Iran lost to Brazil 3-2 (39-37, 26-28, 26-24, 18-25, 15-11) in the Almirante Brown venue and notched the tenth place of the event.

"Congratulations to Brazil. It was a good game. Both teams performed really well", Iran coach Behrouz Ataei Nouri said.

Brazil had in Joao Ferreira its best player, with 26 points, including the final one. For the Asian side, gunners Javad Hosseinabadi and Pourya Fayazi charted 27 points apiece.

Iran had finished runner-up in the previous edition held in Italy.

Defending champion Serbia claimed the title of the FIVB Boy’s Youth World Championship after defeating Spain in five sets (25-23, 25-19, 28-30, 16-25, 15-11).

Uros Kovacevic from Serbia was named as the Most Valuable Player of the competition.
Cuba claimed the bronze medal after a one-side victory in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-21) over France.
