Iran rejects PJAK ceasefire call
TEHRAN, Sept. 5 (MNA) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps(IRGC) has dismissed as “meaningless” a unilateral ceasefire declared by the counter-revolutionary group PJAK (the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan), saying it should first retreat from border areas in northwestern Iran.
“They should first leave border (areas). At the moment, the ceasefire is meaningless,” an IRGC spokesman told on Monday.
“They have called for a ceasefire because they have come under heavy fire of Sepah forces, but Iran has not made any decision yet,” he said.
In addition, he announced 30 PJAK terrorists have been killed and 40 injured since the beginning of the new operation of IRGC against PJAK terrorists.
The IRGC ground forces, in a statement released on Saturday, announced that it has begun a new operation against PJAK in northwestern Iran.
According to the statement, a one-month respite given to PJAK terrorists to retreat ended on Friday, so IRGC forces mounted a new operation against terrorists.
The statement also said that the purpose of the new operation is to force PJAK terrorists to retreat from the heights of Sardasht, West Azarbaijan Province.
