“Persian Gulf” best doc at Iran Cinema Celebration

TEHRAN, Sept.5 (MNA) -- Orod Attarpur’s “Persian Gulf” has won the best documentary award in the documentary section of the Iran Cinema Celebration, which is held annually by the Iranian House of Cinema.
The award presentation ceremony took place at Tehran’s Eyvan-e Shams Theater on Saturday and was attended by a group of cineastes.

Iranian Bahman Kiarostami received the best editing award for the documentary “Hijab in Hijab”, while the best research award was presented to Orod Attarpur and Saeid Malih for “Persian Gulf”.

In the short documentary section, “Soil and Grapes” by producer Zahra Marjani got the best award, and the best director award was handed to Hasan Naqashi for “Mehra”

Producers Zeinab Tabrizi and Jamshid Khoshdel shared the best documentary award in the mid-length section for “Lords of the Streets,” and Mohsen Ostad-Ali got the best director award for “We Will Get Used to It”.

However, director Aida Panahandeh received the best director award for “The House of Ms. Qamar” in the full-length documentary section.

The ceremony was brought to an end by honoring young filmmaker Bahman Kiarostami and organizer of the documentary section of the celebration Hamid Soheili, as well as paying tribute to late film producer Mohammad Sarhangi.

Masud Rayegan, Roya Teimurian, Roya Nonahali, Bahman Farmanara, Manuchehr Shahsavari and Hasan Purshirazi were among the participating guests.

The Iran Cinema Celebration, which celebrates Iran’s National Cinema Day, is to be held on September 12.
