Iranian, S. Korean artistic institutions to sign MOU

TEHRAN, Sept.7(MNA) -- The Arts Council of Korea (ARKO) will sign a cultural MOU with the Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA) in Seoul in the upcoming days.

The IAA delegation has travelled to South Korea on September 3 and they will sign the MOU with ARKO during their ten-day sojourn in that country, the Managing Director of IAA for International Affair Abdolrahim Firuzzadeh mentioned in a press release.

“Literature, dramatic arts, music, art exhibitions and interdisciplinary researches are some fields in which the two institutes will be cooperating,” he said.

The delegation also is visiting different cultural sites and negotiating with artists and cultural figures of South Korea, he said.

During a meeting in July 2011 that the first secretary of the South Korean Embassy in Iran Geun-Ho Kim had with IAA officials, they discussed improvement of cultural and artistic ties between two countries.

After that, Firuzzadeh and acting director of Tehran’s Saba Art and Cultural Institute Masud Nasseri travelled to South Korea to be acquainted with ARKO’s activities.

ARKO is a state-run institute and is interested in establishing cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries, Firuzzadeh added.

Founded in 1973 in accordance with the Culture and Arts Promotion Act, the Korean Culture and Arts Foundation (KCAF) became the predecessor of the Arts Council, which has in turn continued the activities and organization of the KCAF.

The Arts Council Korea was launched in August 26, 2005 for establishing a more specialized and diversified support system for the arts.
