U.S. cineaste Sean Stone arrives in Iran

TEHRAN, Sept. 7( MNA) -- Actor and documentary filmmaker Sean Stone, son of Oscar-winner director Oliver Stone, has travelled to Iran.

He will be attending a press conference today at Tehran’s Milad Tower to explain his plans to make a film in Iran.

He will be searching for suitable locations for his film in the upcoming days. His father is also expected to join him in a few weeks, the report said.

The father and son are coming to Iran at the invitation of a number of Iranian film investors.

In 2007, Oliver Stone made a request to travel to Iran to make a documentary about Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

However, Ahmadinejad’s then media advisor Mehdi Kalhor rejected it, calling Stone “a part of the Great Satan”, a name first applied to the U.S. by the founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, following the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

In 2009, he reiterated his request, which once again did not receive a green light.
