Saipa to represent Iran in UAE volleyball
TEHRAN, Sept. 7(MNA) – Iran’s Saipa will represent the country in the 13th Rashid International Volleyball Championship to be held in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
“Rashid International Volleyball Championship is a high level tournament. We will participate in the event to win the title,” Saipa coach Farhad Nafarzadeh said on Tuesday in Tehran.
Paykan represented Iran last year and won the tournament. The team has recently withdrawn from the Iran Volleyball League due to financial problems.
The tournament, organized by the UAE Volleyball Association (UAEVA), sponsored by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and sanctioned by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), will be held at the Al Shabab Club Hall in Dubai from September 9 to 15.
This annual tournament is held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. The event will see a top draw of teams from across Asia including Iran, China, Australia, India and Pakistan, including the hosts.
The participants will take part in the tournament for the preparation of the 16th Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship that will be held in Tehran from September 21 to 29.
From Dubai, Saipa will travel to Sofia to join a training camp in Bulgaria.
