Iran inspired awakening of Muslim world: Bahraini activist
TEHRAN, Sept.8 (MNA) -- Bahraini political activist Qasem al-Hashemi said that Muslim nations have been awakened as a result of Iran’s efforts to enlighten public opinion and raise awareness in the Islamic ummah.
“Regional people’s campaigns against their despotic rulers are a sign of the Islamic ummah’s return to their true identity. Today, the people have entered the scene to determine the destiny of their countries, an event which is the result of the Islamic Republic’s efforts,” al-Hashemi said in an interview with the website of the Center for Preserving and Publishing the Works of Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei published on Wednesday.
On the policy of Western countries on political developments in Bahrain, he said that the United States has recently lost a number of its close allies in the region and does not want to lose another ally, namely Saudi Arabia, so it is trying to help restore calm in Bahrain, which is regarded as Saudi Arabia’s front line.
“If the Bahraini people’s movement emerges victorious, it will be a great achievement that will have a profound impact on the region. So they have adopted a different approach to the issue of Bahrain,” he stated.
But unfortunately, the United Nations has a weak structure and is under the influence of the United States and other Western countries, which are only pursuing their own political interests, he added.
