MALAYSIAN PM SENDS ONAM GREETINGS

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept (Bernama) -- Najib Tun Razak Thursday send Onam
greetings to the Malaysian Malayalee community.

Writing in his Facebook, the Prime Minister said: "As the Malayalee
community in Malaysia ushers in the harvest and thanksgiving festival of Onam, a
festival which is celebrated by all Malayalees, I call upon Malaysians to join
me in wishing them 'Onam Ashamsegal'.

"In the spirit of 1Malaysia, let us join our Malayalee friends in
celebrating this festival together."

Onam falls during the first month of the Malayalam calendar (Chingam, which
is between August and September) and marks the homecoming of the legendary
Emperor Mahabali.
