‘Seditionists, deviationists seeking to create challenge for Iran’

TEHRAN, Sept.10 (MNA) – The leader of this week’s Friday prayers in Tehran said seditionists and deviationists are seeking to take advantage of the March parliamentary elections to create a challenge for the country.

Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati also said that attempts made by seditionists and deviationists to win people’s support and gain parliamentary seats are futile, because people who defended the Islamic system during the 2009 unrest are still present on the scene and will safeguard the establishment.

Jannati advised seditionists and deviationists not to waste their time to campaign for election, saying those figures who opposed the establishment committed a great and unforgivable sin.

In addition, he said that all people should be vigilant and not allow ill-wishers to undermine the national security and unity.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jannati criticized Turkey for agreeing to host an early warning radar as part of NATO’s missile defense system, saying that Turkey’s decision will prepare the ground for the military presence of NATO in the region, and in turn, will undermine regional security.
