Iranian, South African bands team up for concerts in Asaluyeh

TEHRAN, Sept.11(MNA) -- Asaluyeh, one of the richest gas producing regions in southern Iran, will be playing host to a joint concert of Iranian and South African music on September 12 and 13.

Liyan Band from the southern city of Bushehr conducted by Mohsen Sharifian will be joining Ubuntu Band from South Africa, the Public Relations Office Manager of the organizing company Faramarz Parizi said here on Friday.

The program is organized by Arya Sasol Polymer Compan, which is a joint venture between the National Petrochemical Company of Iran and Sasol of South Africa.

Ubuntu is a six-piece combo featuring dancing, drumming and poetry, and it will be offering performances in three genres of classic, pop and regional music, Parizi said.

It is also anticipated that part of the joint concert will go on stage at Tehran’s Rudaki Hall on September 15.
