Iranian expert proposes solutions to save Lake Urmia
TEHRAN, Sept. 12 (MNA) – Environment expert Borhan Riazii put forward several solutions to save the dying Lake Urmia in northwestern Iran.
He has said that the water level of the lake has gone down because the rivers used to empty into the salt water lake have been dammed.
He described as ill-considered the government’s plan to transfer water from Aras River to Lake Urmia, saying that farming and irrigation methods should be modified and more flow of water into the lake should be allowed.
