Iranian female weightlifters barred from world event
TEHRAN, Sept. 12 (MNA) -- Iran Weightlifting Federation president Hossein Rezazadeh said that the world federation officials have rejected the Islamic countries’ suggested strip for women in the world events.
Some weightlifting federations of the Islamic countries negotiated with the world federation officials to get permission in order to participate in the international events with full hijab.
According to International Weightlifting Federation laws, the elbow and knee of the weightlifter should not be covered during the competition.
“We cannot accept their suggestion; however, we have no problem to hold competitions with participants from the Islamic countries,” Rezazadeh said.
