SUHAKAM TO ORGANISE MALAYSIAN HUMAN RIGHTS AWARDS 2011
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- In conjunction with World Human Rights
Day on Dec 10, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) will organise
the Malaysian Human Rights Awards 2011.
The awards, conferred at the annual event, are aimed at acknowledging
outstanding efforts and contributions of individuals and groups in the country,
in the field of promotion and protection of human rights in the country.
In a statement here Monday, the commission extended an invitation for
nominations which are open to all Malaysians, and could be made for individuals
or organisations.
Nominees for the awards compete in three different categories -- Community
Award (Individual), Community Award (Organisation) and Media Award.
Nominations will close on Nov 1 for judging and the winners will be
presented with their awards at a luncheon ceremony here on Dec 10.
Nomination forms can be obtained from www.suhakam.org.my.
