Iran`s Saipa beats Pakistan in UAE volleyball tournament
TEHRAN, Sept. 12 (MNA) -- Saipa beat Pakistan Friday night in the 13th Shaikh Rashid International Volleyball Championships.
The Iranian, who had lost to China in its opening, defeated Pakistan 3-2 (24-26, 25-21, 28-26, 24-26, 15 -12) at the Al Shabab Club Hall in Dubai.
This annual tournament is held under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.
The participants are taking part in the tournament for the preparation of the 16th Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship that will be held in Tehran from September 21 to 29.
From Dubai, Saipa will travel to Sofia to join a training camp in Bulgaria.
Paykan represented Iran last year and won the tournament. The team has recently withdrawn from the Iran Volleyball League due to financial problems.
