‘Propaganda against Iran will undermine regional security: Iranian official

TEHRAN, Sept. 13 (MNA) – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic of Iran will undermine regional relations, stability, and security.

Mehmanparast made the remarks on Monday in response to the most recent statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, in which Iran has been accused of issuing provocative statements about PGCC members.

The statement deplored Iranian statements “to challenge some (P)GCC countries, in disregard of the rules of good neighborliness,” saying “these statements do not help improve relations between both sides.”

“Unfortunately, certain (countries), under the influence of hegemonistic powers’ media outlines and without taking regional nations’ interests into consideration, are creating a commotion about the Islamic Republic of Iran and causing misunderstanding among regional nations, a move which will negatively affect regional relations and undermine stability and security,” Mehmanparast said.

In addition, he said that the Islamic Republic’s regional policies have always been based of principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect, and non-intervention.

Elsewhere in remarks, he dismissed the expression of concern over Iran’s nuclear program as unfounded and said that Iran’s nuclear activities are completely transparent and in compliance with the International Atomic Agency Organizations’ regulations.
