An outburst of democracy in Egypt
TEHRAN, Sept. 13 (MNA) -- The storming of the Israeli embassy in Cairo last Friday was a sign of Egyptians’ accumulated anger toward Israel, which found an opportunity to burst in the space of semi-democracy that has arisen since the fall of Hosni Mubarak.
It was just a drop in a sea of anger at Israel’s six decades of occupation, war crimes, and humiliation of the Arabs.
The Egyptian youths showed the world how the Arab world feels about Israel and showed Israel that it will reap what it has sown.
Egyptians, like other people in Arab and non-Arab states, watched Israel’s senseless and insane wars on civilians in Lebanon in 2006 and in Gaza from December 2008 to January 2009.
Egyptians also see that from time to time Israel approves more settlement construction in the occupied West Bank and that Palestinians in East Beit-ul-Moqaddas (Jerusalem) are being mercilessly driven out of their homes to clear the way for a complete Zionization, and not Judaization, of the city.
Egyptians also felt humiliated over the fact that five of their border guards were killed by Israel during an attack on Palestinians along the border of Egypt’s Red Sea resort of Taba in South Sinai on August 18. A sixth Egyptian border guard injured in the incident died on Saturday.
Israel and its allies, which claim to be the standard-bearers of democracy, should acknowledge that what happened in Cairo was truly an “outburst of democracy”.
For years, the Israelis did not worry about the fact that the people of the Middle East hated their actions.
But now there will be no more business as usual in the Middle East since the Arab Spring is bringing democracy to the region and empowering the people, who are saying they will no longer tolerate occupation and war crimes.
Expect more outbursts of democracy.
