Iranian ex-FM`s favorite Khayyam poems now available in Russian
TEHRAN, Sept. 13 (MNA) -- A selection of poetry by Persian poet Khayyam, this time selected by former Iranian foreign minister Ali Akbar Velayati, is being offered at 24th Moscow International Book Fair.
Translated by the Iranian cultural attaché’s office in Moscow, the book was jointly released by Iran’s Amirkabir Publications and Veche Publishing in Russia.
Khayyam poetry has received a warm welcome from Russians over the past decade.
In 2008, a Russian translation of former president Vladimir Putin’s favorite quatrains by Omar Khayyam was published in Tatarstan by the World Public Forum Dialogue of Civilizations.
Entitled “Khayyam and Putin”, the book combined the texts of Putin’s interviews with several Russian and foreign mass media articles about his love and respect for Omar Khayyam.
The 24th Moscow International Book Fair ran until September 12 in Russia.
