Tehran theater to host Carriere’s absurd comedy “Terrace”

TEHRAN,Sept.13(MNA)--Iranian director Mohammadreza Khaki planned to stage Jean-Claude Carriere’s “The Terrace”, an absurd comedy highlighting the inanity of life at the end of the modernist era.

The play will be performed at the main hall of Tehran’s City Theater Complex in the fall.

“‘The Terrace’ is one of the fascinating works of Carriere,” Khaki told on Monday.

The play is about a youngish couple Madeleine and Etienne, who live in a modern apartment in Paris. Madeleine casually announces she is leaving. She is in fact waiting for her new lover to pick her up in his red Alfa Romeo.

She has already contacted the real estate agency to rent the apartment. Thus, a parade of potential tenants comes along.

The play is composed of seven characters and a casting team is currently searching for suitable actors.
