PJAK could enjoy Islamic clemency if they disarm: IRGC

TEHRAN, Sept. 14(MNA) -- The deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that the counter-revolutionary group PJAK, which is based in northwest Iran, could be granted Islamic clemency if they abandon their armed struggle against the Islamic Republic.

Brigadier General Hossein Salami made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony held in Tehran on Tuesday to commemorate IRGC personnel who have been martyred in the campaign against PJAK (the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan).

“We warn terrorist groups to stay sufficiently far away from border areas or wait for the crushing attacks of the Sepah (IRGC),” he said.

The IRGC is determined to maintain the security of border areas and will continue its operations to mop up terrorists and counter-revolutionaries, he stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Salami said that the United States is supporting the terrorist groups that operate along the country’s borders with Iraq and Afghanistan, adding that Iran will not tolerate U.S.-sponsored terrorists and will deal with them firmly.
