Australian festival to hold retrospective on Iranian filmmaker
TEHRAN, Sept.14(MNA) -- Australia’s Auburn International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults dedicates the Exchange and Curatorial section of the festival to a retrospective of Iranian documentarian Kamran Shirdel.
Entitled Echoes of an Era, a collection of early short works (1965-1980) by the controversial Iranian documentary filmmaker will go on display on the sideline of the festival.
“Tehran is the Capital of Iran”, “The Night It Rained”, “Women’s District” and “Women’s Prison” from September 23 to 25.
The festival’s website described Shirdel as “a father figure of Iran’s new cinema and documentary school of filmmaking” who “paved the way for a type of social and critical documentary film in Iran”.
Some Iranian films will also go on screen at the festival, which will be held from September 19 to 23.
The films are “The Sound of My Foot” directed by Mehrdad Khoshbakht, “Only 20” by Masud Keramati, “Beautiful Snowy Day” by Mahaya Petrosian and Amir Tudehrusta, “A Good Family” by Amir Hossein Torabi, “Football Field” by Jalal Nasiri-Hanis and “The Sound of Rain” by Jalal Saedpanah.
