KL TOWER BASE JUMP DRAWS 100 LOCAL, FOREIGN JUMPERS
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 14(Bernama) -- One hundred international and local BASE jumpers will take part in the KL Tower International BASE Jump Malaysia 2011 from Sept 28 to Oct 2.
"So far 100 jumpers, comprising 80 men and 20 women, including seven
Malaysians have signed up," said KL Tower chief executive officer Zuraidah Mohd Said after receiving sponsorship pledges for the event here on Wednesday.
She said aspiring participants must have had 100 'sky jumping' experiences before they are allowed to take part in the event, which entails using a parachute to jump off various objects.
"The event always receives encouraging participation because the 310-metre KL Tower is the only telecommunications tower in the world which allows jumping events from its top," she said.
"This year, the location is focused at the Kuala Lumpur Tower compared to last year, when the event was also held elsewhere such as the Petronas Twin Towers and KOMTAR in Penang," she added.
Zuraidah said the public can witness how the jumpers perform their
heart-stopping feats.
Tickets ranging from RM100 (US$1=RM3.07) to RM150 are available for daylight viewing while tickets for night viewing will be from RM150 to RM200.
