Japan trade minister, ASEAN secretary general agree to boost ties
TOKYO, Sept. 14 Kyodo -
Japanese trade minister Yukio Edano and visiting ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan agreed Wednesday to strengthen the Japan-ASEAN partnership at the East Asia Summit to be held in Indonesia in November and at other events.
The secretary general of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations met with Edano at the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
During the meeting, Edano expressed his appreciation for support the ASEAN nations offered to Japan in the wake of the devastating March earthquake and tsunami.
