Persian language department opens at Hanoi college
TEHRAN, Sept.17(MNA) -- The department of Persian language and literature was inaugurated at the College of Social Science and Humanity in Hanoi, Vietnam last week.
The ceremony, which took place at the Department of Oriental Studies, was attended by its deputy director Nguyen Van Kim, Iranian Ambassador Javad Qavvam-Shahidi, and several academic figures and officials.
In his opening speech, Nguyen Van Kim said that he regarded Iranian civilization a great help for enrichment of the world civilization.
He called the Middle East a bridge between Asia and Europe and said that the Middle East is of high significance for Vietnamese university students and teachers, since it has helped acquaint Europe and other parts of the world with Asia through the Middle East.
Qavvam-Shahidi also made a brief speech, saying that learning Persian language is a big step toward knowing the culture and civilization of Persian-speaking countries.
He expressed hope to establish a department of Vietnamese language and literature at the University of Tehran in the upcoming future.
The College of Social Science and Humanity is currently housing the language and literature departments of Japan, South Korea, India, and China.
