Installation of Chinese sculptures in Tehran halted
TEHRAN, Sept.17(MNA) -- Installation of Chinese sculptures across capital Tehran has now been suspended by the Tehran Municipality.
Tehran’s Beautification Organization is to decide over the fate of the current Chinese sculptures situated in several locations, Tehran Municipality spokesman Mohammad-Hadi Ayyazi told on Friday.
However, Ayyazi denied that these sculptures have been installed throughout the capital and said that they have only been installed in district seven of the Tehran Municipality.
He also noted that the Beautification Organization would make the final decision whether or not to keep the purchased sculptures from China.
Tehran Municipality has assured that only the sculptures produced by Iranian sculptors will be located in the open spaces across the city, and that the Beautification Organization is responsible to make use of Iranian sculptures.
According to sculptor Qodratollah Aqeli, who has collaberated with the Tehran Municipality for several years, some Iranian contractors in the Tehran Municipality have imported these sculptures from China for their “personal interests” and then have installed “these shoddy sculptures” in city.
