TRANSFORMATION REQUIRES PEOPLE TO MOVE TO NEW DESTINATION - D'CRUZ
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- The transformation programmes introduced
by the government require the people from all walks of life to move, change or
shift from one place, condition or situation to a new destination, Deputy
Information Communication and Culture Minister Senator Maglin Dennis
D'Cruz said.
He said the programmes also required the people to transform and restructure
the operating procedures in managing their personal needs and the implicit
demands of the society and country.
"It's as simple as this. The word 'transformation' is a combination of
'trans' and 'formation' that needs us to move simultaneously," he said when
opening the National Theatre Seminar 2011 here Monday.
Present was Information Communication and Culture Ministry secretary-general
Kamaruddin Siaraf.
D'Cruz said ever since the programmes were mooted by Prime Minister Najib
Razak on April 2009, 'transformation' had also become the most uttered word in
the country, including in economic, social or educational forums.
Commenting on the seminar, the deputy minister hoped that it would boost the
local theatre industry and open more employment and business opportunities for
the industry players.
"I hope we can also share our knowledge and discuss vital scopes like the
transformation of the Malaysian theatre market and theatre education," he said.
The seminar, themed "Theatre Transformation: Illumination of Creative
Industry", is organised with the aim of discussing issues concerning theatre
transformation and enhancing awareness on the roles of theatre as an important
part of the performing art.
Academicians, industry players and media practitioners were among the
participants at the two day seminar which began yesterday.
