Russian guitarist couple to hold master classes, concerts in Tehran
TEHRAN, Sept. 21 (MNA) -- The Russian guitarist couple Nikita Koshkin and Asya Selyutina are in Tehran to hold master classes and give performances.
Koshkin will be holding his master classes in Tehran on September 26 and 27, and his wife musician Asya Selyutina will be performing several of his compositions at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on September 28 and 29.
Invited by Iranian musician Hooman Musavi, Koshkin will be holding his classes at Iran’s House of Music and Rasaneh Honar Institute.
Nikita Koshkin was born in 1956 in Moscow. His early influences included Stravinsky, Shostakovich and Prokofiev. He studied classical guitar with Georgi Emanov at the Moscow College of Music and later with Alexander Frauchi at the Gnessin Institute where he also studied composition with Victor Egorov.
Koshkin’s music is deeply dramatic and at the same time witty, forceful and imaginative. Numerous extra-musical references to legends, fairy tales and literary figures, as well as musical forms of other cultures, innovative sound effects, and patterns of popular music, give rise to a rich texture full of surprises.
Selyutina represents the new generation of the Russian classical guitarists. She was born in Moscow and began to play guitar at the age of nine. Selyutina continued her guitar studies at the Alfred Schnittke Musical College and at the State Classical Academy (Nikita Koshkin), from which she graduated in 2006.
Apart from the musical contests, Selyutina is a very active player and appears in concerts as a soloist and also as a part of the “Moscow Guitar Duo”.
