Nations’ awakening will disappoint hegemons, Ahmadinejad tells Lebanese president
TEHRAN, Sept. 22 (MNA) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the nations’ awakening will scuttle hegemonistic powers’ plans to save the Zionist regime and their slumping economy.
Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman in New York on Wednesday.
The nations’ awakening will thwart the hegemons’ efforts to achieve their imperial ambitions, he stated.
He also said the Islamic Republic and Lebanon are fighting in a common front and are bound together by shared interests, adding that deepening bilateral ties and mutual cooperation in all spheres is in favor of stability and security in the region.
He went on to say that hegemons intend to create split between nations, but the era of such methods have come to an end.
In the meeting, Suleiman also described Tehran-Beirut ties as close and historical and said friendly relations between the two countries are in favor of resistance movement and regional countries.
He emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity among regional countries against the enemies’ plots and said regional nations together can attain great successes.
During another meeting between Ahmadinejad and Bolivian President Evo Morales, which was held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Tuesday, the two sides strongly criticized hegemons’ interference in other countries’ internal affairs.
Ahmadinejad underlined the importance of unity among independent countries against colonial powers and said the recent developments in Latin America would benefit all freedom-seekers around the world.
In the meeting, Morales also called Iran-Bolivia ties friendly and said La Paz support Tehran’s principled stances.
In a separate meeting with the leaders of some anti-war groups based in the United States, Ahmadinejad pointed to the necessity of commitment to human dignity and said God has created human beings with dignity and would not allow anyone to undermine that even in the name of religion.
