Iranian culture minister: BBC collaborators are subversives
TEHRAN, Sept.22(MNA) -- Iranian minister of culture and Islamic guidance deemed that filmmakers who have collaborated with the BBC Persian TV station are all subversives against the system.
“We all witnessed that BBC Persian played the role of a headquarters for the postelection riots in Iran in 2009,” Mohammad Hosseini said during a press conference in Tehran on Tuesday.
“Therefore, it is obvious that a person who collaborates with this network is not a documentarian and filmmaker. The job of such a person was subversion and he/she is an enemy of the Islamic system,” he added.
On 17 September, a number of Iranian media announced the arrest of six filmmakers who were accused of collaboration with BBC Persian in Iran.
BBC Persian denied any connection between the station and the six filmmakers in a statement on Tuesday and noted that none of them was on its staff.
