Turkish FM meets EU official, Greek counterpart

NEW YORK (A.A) - September 24, 2011 - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Friday met separately with EU's High Representative Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, and Greek counterpart Stavros Lambrinidis.
Turkish sources closed to the meetings said that Davutoglu and Ashton discussed Palestine's UN bid for statehood as well as latest developments in the Balkans.
Davutoglu had conveyed to Ashton Turkey's views over relations with Israel and on the Greek Cypriot administration's offshore drilling activities for hydrocarbon reserves around Cyprus.  
Sources said in the meeting with Greek counterpart, Davutoglu and Lambrinidis discussed bilateral relations and ongoing preparations for a meeting of the High Level Strategic Council between the two countries as well as latest developments in the Middle East.
Davutoglu also told his Greek counterpart that Turkey did not accept unilateral steps taken by the Greek Cypriot administration in its move to explore oil and gas around the Eastern Mediterranean island and that the Greek Cypriot move would receive due response.
