Bust of Iranian Berlinale winner installed in Tabriz

TEHRAN,Sept.25(MNA)-- A bust of Iranian actor Reza Naji was installed in his hometown of Tabriz last week.

The bust was set in front of the Bahman 29 Cinematic Complex during a ceremony attended by Naji, sculptor Changiz Mehdipur and a number of Tabriz municipal officials.

Making the statue has been cosponsored by the Tabriz Municipality and the East Azerbaijan Culture and Islamic Guidance Department.

“Paying tribute to the art and artist is one of the main social and cultural duties of the municipality, and this is a small move to show appreciation for Mr. Naji’s great achievements,” Mehdipur said.

Mehdipur is currently making another bust of Naji, which will be installed at the Film Museum of Iran after completion.

In 2008, Naji won a Silver Bear prize for best actor at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival for his role in “The Song of Sparrows”.
