MODERATE EARTHQUAKE IN INDONESIA'S BANDA SEA
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the Richter scale occurred in the Banda Sea of Indonesia at 11.39 am on Monday, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said.
It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 467km southeast of Makassar, Indonesia, and 1,345km southeast of Sarikei in the East Malaysia state of Sarawak.
The quake did not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.
