TEHRAN, Sept. 27 (MNA)-- Arrest warrants have been issued for 22 people who were involved in the recent large embezzlement totaling 28 trillion rials (2.63 billion dollars), Judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei announced.

Ejei, the national prosecutor general, who was assigned on September 15 to investigate the embezzlement case, made the remarks at a press conference on Monday.

“So far 22 suspects in the recent financial corruption have been interrogated, and arrest warrants have been issued for all of them,” he stated.

“A number of these people are being held in temporary detention, and some have been released on bail,” Ejei added.

On September 18, Ejei announced that 19 people have been arrested in connection with the bank embezzlement.

A number of suspects have been banned from leaving the country and some other ones, who intended to transfer their money and properties, were banned from entering into financial transactions, he said at the time.
