VIET PRESIDENT ON 3-DAY STATE VISIT TO MALAYSIA FROM SEPT 28

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Vietnamese president Truong Tan Sang is scheduled to arrive here on Wednesday on a three-day state visit to Malaysia at the invitation of Malaysia's King the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.

Sang, who was appointed president in July, will be accompanied by his wife, Mai Thi Hanh, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nahn and several cabinet ministers and deputy ministers as well as senior officials of the Vietnamese government, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

It said the official welcoming ceremony will be held at Parliament Square on Wednesday and that Tuanku Mizan and his consort the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah will host a state banquet in honour of Sang and Hanh at the Istana Negara.

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor are scheduled to make a courtesy call on Sang and Hanh, it added.

The foreign ministry said Sang's visit, in reciprocation of the state visit by Tuanku Mizan and Tuanku Nur Zahirah to Vietnam in 2009, is expected to enhance the existing relations between Vietnam and Malaysia.
