General Assembly of Islamic Radio and Television Union kicks off in Tehran
TEHRAN, Sept.27(MNA)-- The 5th session of the General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television Union was inaugurated here on Monday at the IRIB International Conference Center.
Supreme Leader’s top advisor Ali Akbar Velayati, members of the union coming from 32 countries, as well as IRIB officials were among the participants on the first day of the three-day session.
Comprised of 200 members, the union has turned into one of the largest mass media organizations in the world, secretary of the event Hojjatoleslam Ali Karimian said here on Monday.
True collaboration of the members in reflecting world events and promoting Islamic awareness are considered to be the major achievements of the union, he added.
Moreover, the third Islamic Film Market promoting the motto “Islamic Media, Call of Justice and Awareness” was opened on the side section.
Over 80 radio and TV networks and distributors coming from different countries including Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Afghanistan, Palestine, Britain, Kuwait, Pakistan and Sudan are taking part in the event.
The participating countries are also displaying their latest products and technology in an exhibition underway at the market.
Iran is attending with 29 radio and TV networks and cinematic institutions, Iraq is next with 18 and Lebanon comes in third with 10.
