INTEGRITY PLEDGE NO BARRIER TO PROFITABILITY: MALAYSIA MINISTER
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- Thirty-four companies have pledged to uphold the corporate integrity of their institutions, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Idris Jala said on Tuesday.
He said the integrity pledge is not a barrier for companies to achieve profitability as some of the finest companies that have taken the pledge have still performed well in their businesses.
The Corporate Integrity Pledge is a document that allows a company to make a commitment to uphold the Anti-Corruption Principles for corporations in Malaysia.
Idris, who is also Chief Executive Officer of the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), said more companies will sign the pledge in the future as companies needed to implement proper corporate governance in their businesses to do well in Malaysia.
He was speaking to reporters at the presentation of the 2011 Malaysian Business-Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA) Enterprise Governance Awards here.
Among the award recipients was Public Bank Bhd.
