MALAYSIA TAKES DELIVERY OF RENOVATED SONGKHLA CONSULATE BUILDING
SONGKHLA (Thailand), Sept 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian foreign ministry on Wednesday took delivery of the new-look Malaysian consulate building, which has undergone renovation.
Public Works Department project director Prof Dr Amer Hamzah Mohd Yunus handed over the building to Foreign Ministry secretary-general Mohd Radzi Abdul Rahman.
Renovation of the building began in December 2009 at a cost of RM10.3 million (US$3.26 million). It was undertaken by a Kedah-based company, Purata Abadi Sdn Bhd, and was completed in June this year.
The handing-over ceremony was held at the compound of the consulate building, located near Samila Beach. Mohd Radzi planted a mahogany sapling in the compound.
Also present at the ceremony were Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand
Nazirah Hussain and Malaysian consulate-general in Songkhla Mohd Aini Atan.
