VIET PRESIDENT IN MALAYSIA FOR 3-DAY VISIT

SEPANG (Malaysia), Sept 28 (Bernama) -- Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang arrived here at 3.40pm on Wednesday a three-day visit to this country at the invitation of the Malaysian King the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.

Sang and his wife, Mai Thi Hanh, were greeted on arrival at the Kompleks Bunga Raya, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) by Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha, as Minister-in-Attendance, and Deputy Foreign Minister A. Kohilan Pillay.

The Vietnamese President's visit is to reciprocate the official visit by Tuanku Mizan and his consort the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah to Vietnam in 2009.

The Vietnamese President is also scheduled to receive a courtesy call by Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor.

Sang and Mai later arrived at Parliament Square at 4.45pm and were
greeted by Tuanku Mizan and Tuanku Nur Zahirah.

Also present were Najib and Rosmah as well as members of the cabinet.

After the national anthems of both countries were played by the First Batallion of the Royal Malay Regiment, Sang inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by four officers and 103 men from the regiment, followed by the firing of a 21-gun salute.

Sang and the members of his delegation were later introduced to the cabinet ministers and members of the diplomatic corps who attended the ceremony.

The 62-year-old president, who only assumed the post on July 25, will later attend a state banquet at Istana Negara on Wednesday night.

Sang will also attend a business forum and meet with several groups of businessmen on Thursday afternoon.
