SINGAPORE POPULATION AT 5.18 MLN AT END-JUNE: REPORT
SINGAPORE, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- The Singapore population stood at 5.18 million as of the end of June, according to its latest statistics from the Population Trends 2011 report.
It said the total population expanded by 2.1 per cent, or 107,000, this year, due to the increased number of citizens and non-residents.
Between last year and this year, the number of Singapore citizens grew by 0.8 per cent, to 3.26 million.
Chinese dominate the majority at 74 per cent of the resident population, followed by Malays (13 per cent) and Indians (9.2 per cent).
