MALAYSIA'S KING PAYS COURTESY CALL ON VIET PRESIDENT
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian King the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang and his wife Mai Thi Hanh at the Sheraton Imperial, the hotel where they are staying here.
The King, who was accompanied by his consort the Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah, arrived at 5.20pm.
Sang, who was appointed as the Vietnamese President in July, arrived in Kuala Lumpur for a three-day visit, accompanied by his deputy, Nyugen Thien Nahn, and several cabinet ministers and senior Vietnamese government officials.
Sang and his wife later received a courtesy call from Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor at 5.40pm. They had a meeting for 45 minutes.
Also present were Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha and his wife Chan Tat Chin, and Deputy Foreign Minister A. Kohilan Pillay and his wife Rajakumari Jeyaraman.
Earlier, the state guest was given an official welcome at Parliament Square.
The visit is to reciprocate the visit by Tuanku Mizan and Tuanku Nur Zahirah to Vietnam in 2009 aimed at, among others, boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.
