SCIENTIFIC APRROACH 'VITAL FOR MALAYSIAN SPORTS'
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- The National Institute Sports (NSI) is working out strategies to reform the application of medicine, science and technology in producing high performing athletes, said Deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Gan Ping Sieu.
"I believe it is of utmost importance in the successful preparation of athletes for competition all over the world," he said when opening the 5th National Sports Institute of Malaysia's International Sports Medicine and Sports Science Conference 2011 (SMSS2011) here on Wednesday.
Over 300 representatives from various components of sports science from around the world are participating in the conference which ends on Friday.
Meanwhile, NSI girector-general Dr Ramlan Abdul Aziz said NSI always
strives to continuously improve on the delivery of its medical and scientific services through comprehensive, well-coordinated and integrated efforts to meet the needs and requirements of the nation's athletes.
