EMERY OLEOCHEMICALS WINS GREEN AWARD

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Emery Oleochemicals, a joint venture between Sime Darby Plantation Sdn Bhd and PTT Chemical International Private Ltd, and a world leader in natural based chemicals, recently received the 2011 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Green Excellence Award for Product Innovation in Renewable Chemicals.

The award reaffirms the strength of Emery Oleochemicals' product platform, which is primarily characterised by the company's approach to long-term sustainability.

Held for the first time, the Asia Pacific Green Excellence Awards programme recognises organisations, individuals, technologies and solutions that are focused on environmental priorities, long-term sustainability and are viable in the marketplace, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

In qualifying for this award, the company was benchmarked against a number of competitors using three key criteria -- product profile, business commitment and environmental accountability.

Headquartered in Malaysia and with a global footprint that spans across three continents, Emery Oleochemicals was also the recipient of the 2009 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Best Oleochemicals Company of the Year.

This award acknowledged the company's strong presence and continued success among global oleochemical players.

In accepting the award, Dr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, group chief executive officer of Emery Oleochemicals, said:"We are absolutely thrilled to receive the 2011 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Green Excellence Award for Product Innovation in Renewable Chemicals".

He said the award also highlighted Emery Oleochemicals' business commitment.
