VIET PRESIDENT VISITS MALAYSIA'S PETRONAS TWIN TOWERS
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Visiting Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, who is on a three-day visit to this country, visited the Petronas Twin Towers, the world's tallest twin towers here on Thursday.
Sang, who was accompanied by his wife Mai Thi Hanh and 70 other delegates, were greeted by Petronas vice-president Abdullah Karim upon arrival at about 10am.
Abdullah then took him to the sky bridge at level 42 before entertaining him at the Malaysian Petroleum Club where he signed his name on the visitors' book.
During his 45-minute visit, Sang also received from Abdullah a mock cheque for US$50,000 as contribution to the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA).
Also present were Transport Minister Kong Cho Ha and Vietnam's ambassador to Malaysia Nguyen Hong Thao.
Sang, who arrived yesterday for his visit to reciprocate the visit by the Malaysian King the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin and his consort the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Nur Zahirah to Vietnam in 2009, will later attend a business forum and meet with several groups of businessmen.
