MALAYSIAN UNIT WINS PEPSICO THAILAND CONTRACT
BANGKOK, Sept 29 (Bernama) -– Century Resources (Thailand) Ltd, a
wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia's Century Logistics Holdings Berhad, has secured a 76 million Baht (US$2.45 million) contract from Pepsi-Cola (Thai) Trading Co Ltd for utilising its warehousing facility.
Century Logistics is one of Malaysia's largest logistics companies listed on Bursa Malaysia.
Pepsi-Cola will use Century Resources' state-of-the-art warehousing facility at the Rojana Industrial Park, Ayutthaya, for an initial period of two years.
Century Resources in a statement on Thursday said the food division of Pepsico, the largest snack food company in the world, will use its warehousing facilities as a strategic regional distribution centre.
Deputy group managing director of Century Logistics Holdings Berhad Dr Mohd Amin Kassim said the strategic collaboration would translate into greater efficiency and cost-effective solutions for Pepsico and its customers.
"Century Logistics is recognised for its provision of value-added solutions to assist its impressive list of clientele to optimise their operation and ultimately, satisfy their end-customers," he said during the signing ceremony for the strategic collaboration between both companies here recently.
Century Resources established its presence in Thailand in 2005 with the inception of a third-party logistics contract from Nestle.
It invested a further 350 million Baht (US$11.28 million) in 2009 to set up its own warehousing facilities in line with its regional growth strategy.
Pepsico's General Manager for Foods Mookda Pairatchavet said he is confident that the strategic collaboration would not be confined merely to Thailand but has the potential to expand regionally covering Asean, the Indian sub-continent and the Arab Gulf countries.
Century Logistics also operates in China, Singapore, India, Sri Lanka and Dubai apart from Malaysia and Thailand.
