Iranian discus thrower Hadadi eyes Olympic medal

Tehran, Oct.2 (MNA) -- Discus thrower Ehsan Hadadi said that it’s time to win a medal in the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Hadadi booked a place in the upcoming Olympic Games after claiming a bronze medal in the World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea in early September.

“I succeeded to win Iran’s first medal in the World Championships. It means I am ready to win medal at the Olympics as well. However, I have no coach at the moment,” Ehsan Hadadi said during a news conference in Tehran at the Iran Olympic Academy on Saturday.

“To win medal at such prestigious events like the Olympics you have to go abroad for training. My main objective is to win a medal at the Olympics and I will not lose my concentration,” the 26-year-old added.

“Robert Harting from Germany won gold (with throw of 68.97m), since he had trained more than me. If I had good facilities I could have thrown more than 66.08m. The Iranian officials have to support me up to next 10 months for the tournament. I am determined to make history at the Olympics,” Haddadi concluded.
