AIRASIA OFFERS FREE DELIVERY OF AID TO TYPHOON NESAT VICTIMS IN THE PHILIPPINES
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) - AirAsia Malaysia has offered to provide free delivery service of aid from Malaysians for victims of Typhoon Nesat in the Philippines.
A statement issued by the airline company Sunday said it would allocate cargo space on its daily flight from Kuala Lumpur to Clark in Manila for the purpose.
"Those who are interested to help, including non-governmental organisations, aid and humanitarian agencies, as well as the public, can send particulars on the aid they are giving to airasiacares@airasia.com," it said.
AirAsia has a daily direct flight from Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu to Manila.
More than 100,000 residents in the Philippines have been ordered to evacuate to safer ground following heavy rain and strong wind of up to 170km per hour which lashed through the country last Tuesday. Losses have been estimated at RM642 million (US$200.1 million).
